Description
Sacred Heart School, Covina located in the San Gabriel Valley is a parish school committed to providing our students with a well -rounded academic and strong faith- based program centered on the values of our Catholic faith. We are accepting applications for a 2nd grade homeroom teacher to teach all the CORE subjects, all ELA subjects, Math, Religion, Social Studies, Science and computer to grade 2 students. The 2nd grade teacher will also be preparing this class to receive the sacraments of Reconciliation and the Eucharist.
Job duties and Responsibilities:
- Establishes classroom systems and structures to maximize student learning and faith formation
- Submit weekly lesson plans; knowledge of the CIP Model for lesson planning is preferred
- Assess, document, and analyze student progress using assessment data
- Actively participate and collaborate in weekly planning meetings
- Communicate with parents through formal conferences and informal communications
- Share school yard supervision
- Desires to learn and receive coaching
- Participate actively in school community events
Requirements
Skills Required:
- Fosters a faith-filled, nurturing, and respectful classroom culture
- Demonstrate record of success working with elementary grades
- Plan thematic units collaboratively with colleagues
- Possess enthusiasm for and experience with curriculum development and assessment
- Plan and implement a rigorous academic curriculum in line with the Common Core and Archdiocesan standards
Certification:
- Well-organized, highly energetic, and passionate about our Catholic faith
- Academic knowledge of English
- Understanding of language acquisition
- Significant training in literacy development
- Bachelor of Arts is a must, Masters in Education preferred
- More than 3 years of teaching experience preferred
- Possess a CA teaching credential, or be in the process of obtaining it
- Basic catechist certificate
